M06A · Problem 20 ★★ Check

Order-book arithmetic: BEL

Playbook 7 (M15 · 15.7) uses these BEL figures, which were not checked against BEL's filings: order book ₹73,882 cr on 1 Apr 2026, ₹72,258 cr on 1 Jul 2026 and ₹68,717 cr on 1 Oct 2026; revenue ₹5,547.0 cr in Q1 FY27 and ₹7,327.7 cr in Q2 FY27; trailing-twelve-month revenue to Q2 FY27 ₹30,252.9 cr. (a) Using (6A.26), compute the order inflow and the book-to-bill ratio for each quarter and for H1. (b) Compute the Q2 execution rate x=R/Bt−1x = R/B_{t-1} (per quarter) and, if book-to-bill stayed at its H1 level and the execution rate at its Q2 level, the rate at which the order book would shrink each quarter. (c) Compute the order book in years of trailing revenue on 1 Oct 2026. Name two reasons why a low book-to-bill in one half-year is weak evidence of a slowdown for a defence company, and one disclosure that would strengthen or weaken the inference.
