Markets: A Rigorous Course

M08 · Problem 2 ★ Check

A parity violation

Suppose that on 5 Nov 2026 you could trade the Dec 25,000 call at 350.00 and the Dec 25,000 put at 606.85, with the Dec future at 24,719.10. (a) Compute the parity residual c−p−e−rT(F−K)c-p-e^{-rT}(F-K). (b) Construct the trade that locks in the mispricing, list every cash flow today and at expiry, and compute the locked-in profit per lot at expiry. (c) Assume all-in costs (brokerage, STT, exchange charges, slippage) of ₹600 per lot for the three legs together, and that margin is funded at rr. Does the trade survive costs? What else could explain such a quote in practice?
