M15 · Problem 21 ★★ Check

Sizing the crude-mini trade, and the contracts that do not fit

On 16 Oct 2026 the rule of 15.11.2 signalled long with N=₹136.04N = \text{₹}136.04/bbl. The proxy entry at the next open was ₹9,406.59. The 99th percentile of adverse overnight gaps was g99=3.41%g_{99} = 3.41\%. The account is ₹10,00,000 and f=1%f = 1\%. (a) Compute the risk per lot for a 2N2N stop for CRUDEOILM (10 bbl) and CRUDEOIL (100 bbl). Compute both terms of (15.11.1) for CRUDEOILM and the number of lots. (b) Compute the initial margin for that position at 30% of contract value, and as a percentage of the account. (c) The stop is hit. Using M10 (10.28) with brokerage ₹20 an order, MCX ₹2.10 per lakh each side, SEBI ₹10 per crore each side, stamp 0.002% on the buy, CTT 0.01% on the sale and GST 18% on brokerage, MCX charge and SEBI fee, compute the round-trip cost, the net loss and the net R. (d) Gold's duty-paid parity on 6 Nov 2026 was ₹1,41,448 per 10 g with a 20-day mean absolute daily change of ₹1,764.7.
